Biography Bonnie Lou Kirman, 68, of Peoria, passed away at 9:55 a.m. on Thursday, January 25, 2007 at home. Bonnie was born on July 2, 1938 in Bushnell, daughter of Maurice and Dorothy Mae Wilson Keime. She grew up in Kewanee and married Jerry L. Kirman on November 18, 1957 in New Buffalo, MI. Bonnie and Jerry moved, with their young family, to Peoria in 1963. Bonnie is survived by her husband, Jerry of Peoria; daughter, Kay of California; son, Kevin of Peoria; sister, Sandy (Garnet) Kremzow of Kewanee; and cousin, Leon (Carol) Alden of Bartonville. She was preceded in death by her parents; infant son, Brian Keith; sister, Kay Keime; and stepfather, Joe Coretto. Bonnie retired from furniture sales, most recently from Ashley Furniture in Peoria, and was formerly employed, for eight years, with Steger’s Furniture in Pekin, where she made many close friends. She had previously worked for the Peoria Sears Department Store in the furniture, shoe and jewelry departments. Bonnie received various sales awards throughout her career. Bonnie was a State Champion Bowler and played in various leagues throughout the Peoria area. She was active in the Corrington Neighborhood Watch program and loved gardening, collecting and antiquing. Bonnie was a dear friend to many and became a loving surrogate sister, mother, grandmother and daughter to many. She was passionate about her family and her dogs. Bonnie enjoyed spending time with her close friends, Margo Latham, Debbie Westlake, Jeannie Herbst, Brenda and Edie Janes, Lou Gene Williams, Amy Whetstone and Andrea White. She was a fan of the Chicago Cubs and enjoyed collecting Scotties, quilts and folk art. She enjoyed listening to eclectic music, but Elvis was her favorite. She enjoyed spending her time at the Glen Oak Conservatory, in her garden, visiting antique shops in central Illinois and at Forest Park Nature Center. Bonnie loved her backyard and reinventing her garden each year. She also loved finding folk art pieces with her friends. She especially loved spending time with her family and her "babies", Maggie, Millie and Manda. She was a loving, caring, giving and funny woman. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, January 29, 2007 at First English Lutheran Church, 725 E. Forrest Hill in Peoria, with the Rev. Dr. James Lillie officiating. Visitation will be held from 3 – 5 p.m. on Sunday at Clary Funeral Consultants, 1625 Candletree Drive in Peoria. Cremation rites will be accorded, following services. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Glen Oak Park Conservatory. |
